I was so excited when Matt Kalish, the owner of DraftKings, invited me to a Boston Celtics game with him and his wife. It’s always a thrill to cheer on my favorite basketball team and squeeze in some business talk at the same time! Walking into TD Garden, with that electric atmosphere, reminded me of my journey in wrestling—it’s a “pinch me” moment every time I hear fans yelling “Mercedes,” “Sasha,” or “the CEO” as I pass by. A couple of the players did too, but I was too shy to look up and see who. Just nice to get the hometown love.
Catching up with Matt and his wife was a blast. Turns out, Matt’s from Lowell, and his mom is from Cedar Rapids, Iowa—same as mine! It’s always a fun surprise to discover those little connections with people. We spent the game cheering for the Celtics alongside Aunt Angela Dalton (one of my CEO mentors), soaking up every bit of the energy. The game was so close, but the Celtics lost by just one point—argh! But we will all be seeing my boys in June – bet on it. Overall, it was an unforgettable night!
