Kamille was officially banned from my match at ALL OUT. Did that slow me down? Absolutely not! I stepped out in a gorgeous kimono, paying homage to Japan, where I’m the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. I wanted to remind everyone who holds that title, and what better way to do it than to do it in style?
After my win over Momo in Washington, D.C., I felt that it was only fitting to honor the country that means so much to my career. So, there I was, draped in a kimono and fur coat, as “Extra” as ever, ready to prove—again—that I’m the best.
Now, let’s talk All Out! Chicago was incredible. The crowd? Beyond amazing. Walking into that arena and seeing the superstar logos painted on the walls was such a cool moment—especially when I spotted mine! It’s those little touches that arenas do to make you feel so welcome and ready to perform at your best. It actually motivates you more to put on a better show. It certainly was the case for me.
I’m still in awe of how far this company has come and what it stands for. We really did blow the roof off the place. I know you will think I’m being biased, but as a fan of wrestling, AEW Pay Per Views have been amazing to watch. They will only improve as well, which is even more exciting.
The biggest highlight of All Out was my Auntie from Iowa coming to the match. She just lost her husband, and I know how down she was. I was hoping the distraction would alleviate some of the pain. After the event, she told me it was the best wrestling she’s ever watched. Mission accomplished.
It’s always great to have family and friends come to see you. The process involves calling the office to get them tickets and, when possible, having them come backstage to see you. It’s such a treat to the ones that are fans, and you’re always proud to have them there. The only time it can be challenging is when you have a big match and/or big responsibilities following the match. The best family and friends know you’re there working and respect that. They lay low and stay out of the way. It’s not always the case, so you definitely have to be selective. Your primary duty is to your employer, the fans, and even your coworkers. Not all family and friends understand that, but Auntie always did, making the night even more special for me.
After multiple pay-per-views I was tired, but I prioritized supporting my friends, including my wrestle friends. And you know why? Because my wrestle friends have always supported me. Whether wrestling for New Japan in my first appearance post-WWE or my debut at AEW, the likes of Naomi, Bayley, Tamina, and others were there for me. It’s never easy for them with their schedules and with their jobs, but they were – and there I’ll be!
So, when I got the invite for the premiere of The Killer’s Game starring my friend Drew McIntyre, you bet I was gonna be there to support. Ditto for Bayley, who also flew in. It’s always great to see Pam (Bayley), even in these quick spurts. Along with seeing her and Drew, I got to see another old friend, Cathy Kelley, who looked as beautiful as ever doing her thing. I hope this opportunity elevates Drew to additional outside opportunities. Regardless, he is starring in a big movie, and for that he should be so proud.
