Yes, my first cousin and mentor- Snoop Dogg is one of the torchbearers on Friday night of the Olympics and will be commentating. It’s #followthedog, which maybe he got from #followtheMoné. But seriously, anytime I see Snoop on the TV, I always say ‘wow.’ To this day, I can’t believe that’s actually my bloodline and my cousin, and someone I can always go to for advice and help. He’s legit someone that I look up to as an icon and a legend. You’d be surprised how much I lean on him for advice. He was my first call after walking out on WWE and he was the one that directed me to my Advocate, Kev. In addition to what he means to me, it’s just so incredible to see his career and to know that he can literally do everything – and is! Goals;)
Of course, I’ll be rooting for Team USA basketball at the Summer Olympics. I’ll especially be watching my girls. Yet, I want to say how unfair and unjust it was for the men’s team to omit Boston Celtics NBA finals MVP Jaylen Brown from the roster. While I’m happy for our Derek White to fill the slot, I’ll say that there has to be something else to all this. How do you omit a top ten player like Jaylen? I know my friend Stephen A. feels vindicated over his tweet that certain execs don’t see Jaylen as a superstar. However, we all have to know by now how wrong they are and how wrong the Olympic team was in this case. Jaylen, just like Tom Brady before him, did what the greatest superstars do when treated unjustly, they go win championships. It’s easy to target Jaylen for being the highest paid player he is. Just as it’s easy to target me for that same reason. This is why I feel a kinship to him, and anyone like him. Jaylen, the more they criticize and snub you, the more you keep building Black Wall Street, uplifting the community, and winning titles. I’ll do the same and see you courtside in November, friend!
In continuing my pledge to support female athletes and competitors, your CEO will be watching these Olympic games more closely than ever before. One person I especially have my eye on is Sha’Carri Richardson. This girl has champion and star written all over her. She and I met at the 2021 espy when I won an espy for main eventing WM. She came up to me and was so sweet. She lives in Orlando, and we go to the same nail tech-Tokyo B. You have a friend and fan in Mercedes Moné;)
Along with my girl Sha’Carri, I’ll be scouting and supporting 11 others, and I urge you to do so as well. These great women need all the support they can get, and I trust they will not let you down. While I’ll have my eye on all the girl athletes, especially the ones from the USA, check out my top 12 below.
