Training For Britt Baker & the Role YouTube Plays

So much talk about hair, makeup, costumes, schedules, and packing, but what about actual training? I do have a main event match on our biggest stage against one of the best in Britt Baker. To that point, I get to the gym as often as I can. No matter what, I always hit my 30-minute burpees, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. This always preps me so well for any up-and-coming matches.

I’m disappointed that I haven’t been able to get in an actual wrestling ring and train for Britt and All In due to all my travel. This isn’t the first time for that, either. When I can’t do in-ring training, I settle for the next best thing: watching old matches on YouTube! For Britt, I’ve been doing a ton of tape study.

I watch tapes of my opponents as well as tapes of all the different matches from different people who inspire me. Also, if I know that Britt Baker does a certain move. I want to see how someone else does it or responds to it. I’m also just prepping for and researching all the different styles, too. You never know what spark will come from any of the old matches.

Most recently, I watched Seth Rollins versus Logan Paul. (Damn that Logan Paul is athletic.) One of my friends recommended that I watch that match because Seth Rollins is such a seasoned veteran, and Logan Paul’s just so much newer and greener.

I also watched a three-way match (even though my match is not a three-way) between John Cena, Brock Lesnar, and Seth Rollins. I thought the end of the match was so good, especially how they captivated the crowd. In addition, I watched Kurt Angle versus Jeff Jarrett from TNA. I thought it was also a very good match due to their rivalry and tension.

I listen to a lot of different types of music. My Spotify is always all over the board.  For some reason, this week, for reasons I can’t explain, I’ve been on an 80s kick. Shout out to ‘Turn the Page’ by Bob Seger and ‘Let’s Dance’ by David Bowie. I’ve had those on repeat. Music, like wrestling, is in my blood (literally, as Cousin Snoop will tell you) and is a very important part of my life. It gets me through good times and bad.

I don’t just like listening to music – I like making it, too. Recording my entrance music and the song ‘CEO’ was yet another bucket list dream come true. However, my rap work and work in music production is by no means a gimmick or one-off. I look forward to getting back in the studio before the end of the year. My Advocate, Kev, and my Producer, Rocco (also Snoop’s cousin and mine), have lined up some studio time for me to do so in LA. Kev also set some meetings with major labels. I’ll be sure to keep you all posted.
