It’s wild to think about how long I’ve known Carmella without ever having the chance to share a ring with her. Back during our time in NXT, she was always grouped in with Enzo and Cass, and while they were tearing it up, I was on my own path. We were both called up to the main roster, but somehow, we always ended up on opposite brands.
Fast forward to the end of 2020, and everything changed. After I defeated Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Carmella was my first opponent. It was exciting and refreshing to finally step into the ring with someone I had known for so long but had never wrestled alongside.
Our first pay-per-view match together was nothing short of incredible. Even without the electric energy of the fans, I truly felt that we delivered the match of the night. We had such great chemistry, and it was clear that we both brought our A-game. At one point, I remember looking over at her, and we shared a moment of mutual respect and excitement. It was a blast!
The feedback we received after that match was overwhelming. Bryan Danielson came up to me afterward and told me how much he enjoyed it. Hearing praise from someone with his caliber meant the world to me. Backstage, everyone was talking about our performance, and it felt amazing to know that we had made an impact.
Working with Carmella was everything I hoped it would be and more. It’s funny how the universe works, bringing us together when the timing was just right. I can’t wait to see where our paths lead us next, but I’ll always cherish those moments we finally got to share in the ring.
